ART DECO LOFT

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, CA – 2016

Located inside the historic Eastern Columbia building, this loft was bare concrete – but the Owner asked us “to make the inside as good as the outside.”  The Eastern Columbia, Los Angeles’ greatest Deco monument, was designed by Claude Beelman in 1928.  The building was originally a department store.

Inspired by Havana, late Art Deco and early 20th C gentlemen’s clubs, AKA created a new interior with wood-clad columns, custom etched glass, pastel-colored ceilings, new kitchen, custom doors and richly papered walls.

The furniture was sourced from specialty Deco dealers, primarily Art Deco Collection in Northern California.
